The Karametiya project area is located in the Nuwara Eliya District and is considered a Tier 3 project area because of its geological settings.
The Karametiya Project is located about 140km southeast of Colombo and about 60km northeast of Galle in southwestern Sri Lanka. Geologically, the area covered by the project belongs to the far southern margin of the Highland Complex of Sri Lanka. Within the licence area we find khondalites and charnockites folded into a series of small to medium-scale overturned synformal and antiformal structures trending NE-SW.
Margosa has identified 16 historical shafts and adits and will continue ground reconnaissance during 2017 and proposes to fly the licence with airborne EM in early 2018.
