Margosa commissioned Sri Lanka’s largest high-resolution Helicopter-borne Time Domain Electromagnetic survey

Exploration History 2017 – Margosa Takes to the Air
25 November 2020

Our exploration program was further expanded in 2017 when we commissioned Sri Lanka’s single largest high-resolution Helicopter-borne Time Domain Electromagnetic survey. Our Sri Lankan based Margosa and LRM staff, worked alongside South African airborne geological company, New Resolution Geophysics Pty Ltd (NRG) and Sri Lankan company, Senok Air to successfully complete the survey. The survey focused on defining the next generation of graphite deposits in Sri Lanka with targeted areas at Pathakada, Aluketiya, Dumbara, Waharaka, Kithulgala and Dehiowita. Completed over four weeks, the survey collected an impressive 1720 line kilometres of electromagnetic and magnetic data. Perth based, Southern Geoscience Consultants Pty Ltd were commissioned to model the data, with a view of generating ranked exploration targets for each of the six priority project areas flown. These results, along with mapping and ground-truthing were used to plan reconnaissance drill programs and further detailed ground geophysical surveys.
